Happy Hour on Zoom

Happy Hour on Zoom

Pinnacle Wealth Management hosted our first client Zoom Happy Hour last night. No, everything did not go according to plan and of course there were some technology issues but, it was so much fun, and we are so glad that we did it!

The first Wednesday in December is usually the night of our Holiday Client Event. For the past several years, we have hosted an event at Town Hall Arts Center in Downtown Littleton. It is one of the highlights of our year as a firm. Like just about everything in 2020, this event was cancelled.

As a staff, we pride ourselves on the relationships that we build with our clients. We believe that relationships are one of the most important parts of our work. We know that physical distance has been important this year but, we believe that social distance should not be a part of our day to day. We have tried to find as many ways to socially connect with our clients and community as possible. It is not always perfect but, it is always worth it.

Are you feeling socially distanced from friends and family this year? We highly recommend hosting a happy hour or other get together to connect with those you love. It will not be the same as getting together in person, but you might be surprised just how much fun you can have.

How to Host a Zoom Happy Hour

  1. If you do not have one yet, get a zoom account – even the free one will work.
  2. Schedule your happy hour or other event.
  3. Invite friends and family and send them the link to join.
  4. Set the theme. Theme parties are always more fun. It could be a PJ, Ugly Sweater, or Holiday Movie themed party. The more creative your theme, the better.
  5. Plan a menu. It can be a lot of fun to share the same food and drinks. You could send recipes ahead of time and compare how different guests make the same foods. You could also order take-out and have it delivered to each house to give it the feel of going out. Food is one of the best parts of a party so make it as fun and delicious as possible!
  6. Once you have food, you must add some drinks. Whether you like cocktails, mocktails, coffee, or something else, plan a fun a festive drink to go with your theme.
  7. Set a fun background. You can google zoom backgrounds and you will come up with endless background images. For our happy hour we all selected scenes that matched our theme.
  8. Plan some activities, questions, or music. You could do trivia, play your favorite holiday songs, or even play a virtual game. Dice games can be a lot of fun because most people have dice at home, so it is easy for everyone to play and for the scorekeeper to manage.
  9. Have FUN!!! Whatever you decide to do, whether there are technical difficulties or not, give it a try and have fun connecting with friends and family in a new way.

Still nervous and have some questions? Give us a call and we will share our experience to help you out. We know that we are financial planners and that is our day job but, we are in the relationship business too. We want to do our best to ensure that we maintain relationships with our clients and that you maintain relationships with your friends and family as well.
